The Opportunity

A Tier 1 main contractor delivering a high-profile £150m new build project in Norwich is looking to appoint an experienced Project Quantity Surveyor (PQS) to join their commercial team.

This flagship scheme is a complex, multi-zone build within the critical infrastructure sector, requiring a commercially astute surveyor to take ownership of key packages, manage costs effectively, and drive value throughout the project lifecycle.

Working closely with the Commercial Manager and operational teams, you’ll play a pivotal role in ensuring the project is delivered on time, on budget, and to the highest quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Manage cost control from procurement through to final account for designated work packages
• Lead subcontractor procurement, tendering, and negotiation processes
• Prepare and present monthly cost reports and cashflow forecasts
• Provide accurate cost advice and risk analysis to senior management and stakeholders
• Assess and manage variations, claims, and change control processes
• Work collaboratively with site teams to monitor progress and forecast costs
• Ensure compliance with contractual and legal obligations
• Maintain accurate records including CVRs, procurement schedules, and subcontractor documentation
• Support junior QS team members through mentoring and knowledge sharing
  
  

Ideal Candidate

• Experienced Project Quantity Surveyor with a proven track record on major construction projects (£20m+)
• Strong knowledge of JCT or NEC contracts (NEC preferred)
• Excellent commercial acumen and negotiation skills
• Ability to work independently while supporting wider commercial and operational teams
• Background in complex builds such as critical infrastructure, healthcare, or large-scale commercial projects
• Qualifications:
• Degree or HNC/D in Quantity Surveying or Commercial Management (essential)
• CSCS Card (Black or White)
• Membership of RICS or working towards chartership (desirable)
